Standing on the platform-Open Air-Observatory at 238 meters high at night, you could have a bird’s eye view of the whole charming capital city. There is a nice place to get a higher view of the Beijing city. Now the CCTV Tower has been turned into advanced and modern building with comprehensive functions like transmitting radio signals and TV programs, entertainments etc.
There is no surprise that the CCTV tower is the home of many TV and Radio station broadcasts, including CCTV1 thru CCTV9.? From the top of CCTV Tower, you can see a wide view of the western area of Beijing.? The tower is not near the center so practically all major Beijing landmarks are not usually visible.?
The CCTV Tower was comprised of the?main building, the cultural Center and accessory facilities. Designed by a famous architect from Netherlands, the main tower stands at 230 meters high with 54 floors. The CCTV Tower is regarded as a challenge to other usual construction. It is in radical shape, with a loop base of six horizontal and vertical sections, and two buildings joined together in the open air, like two twisted 'Z's. So local people also called it Dakucha (meaning big shorts) and later it becomes its nickname. International broadcasting is undertaken by the new headquarter.??
As one of the modern wonders of Beijing and if this CCTV Tower is any less of a city, with fewer attractions, the CCTV tower would feature heavily in any tourist promotions.? As it is, there are so many things to see in Beijing, especially of historical and cultural interest, the poor old tower tends to get overlooked.? If you are not particularly interested in all things ancient, the CCTV Tower does worth a visit. Besides, you can have dinner there when you feel tired.
Hope we will bring you a new outlook during your visa free Beijing tour.
