Have You Ever Been to Beihai Park

Encompasses more than 68 hectares, Beihai Park is an imperial park in the city of Beijing, northwest to the Forbidden City. More than half of it is taken up by the lake.

Like many other Chinese imperial gardens, Beihai Park was built to imitate some famous scenic spots and architecture from different regions of China. The structures and scenes in Beihai Park are described as masterpieces of gardening technique that reflects the style and the superb architectural skill and richness of traditional Chinese garden art.
History of Beihai Park
As one of the oldest and most authentically saved imperial gardens in China, Beihai Park has a history of 1000 years.
Beihai Park has existed throughout several dynasties-the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Lots of the buildings were constructed during Qing Dynasty Qianlong reign
In 1925, Beihai Park was opened to the public. Later it became one of the first important cultural sites placed under protection by the State Council.
